a toast to bread, for without it we wouldn't have toast . . . or Les Misérables.

about this site
This site opened in June 2000 and has evolved immensely since.  I'm always trying out new ideas and layouts.  My most popular layout, by far, was my "flag" design (screen shot below) which I've halfway gone back to in this current layout.

This site currently has two titles:  The Garden in the Rue Plumet & 55 Rue Plumet.  I'm indecisive.

Thanks to Jean Prouvaire, Lauren Griffin, Miriam, Mujer, Alexandria, Josie, Gina, Emma, Kristin, Percy, John, and Gavroche for their help and contributions.

Quotes from Les Misérables are taken from the Charles E. Wilbur translation (the Barnes & Noble edition, which stinks, by the way, it's full of typos; I'd recommend the Everyman's Library or the Modern Library edition), except the quotation from Jean Valjean's gravestone which is taken from the Isabel F. Hapgood translation.   Quotes from the bible are from the King James version.

This site is best viewed with Internet Explorer 5.0 or 6.0 (medium fonts).
